In 1931, the Col d'Aubisque, along with the formidable Col du Tourmalet, featured in the grueling 9th stage of the Tour de France. This stage proved to be a decisive moment in the race, particularly for Antonin Magne, who delivered an outstanding performance.

Magne not only conquered the harsh climbs of the Aubisque and the Tourmalet but also managed to claim victory in the stage. His triumph that day propelled him into the overall lead in the general classification, and eventually helped him to win Tour de France for the first time in his career.
