The highest peak of Giro d'Italia 2024 will be the Passo dello Stelvio. There is little wonder, that Stelvio Pass will be the Cima Coppi this year. Usually, when it is part of the program, this ascent is one of the highests.
Actually, when the Cima Coppi (remembering Fausto Coppi) was introduced to Giro d'Italia iin 1965, it was Stelvio that had got the honour to bear the special name temporarily. Coincidentally, this was the ascent where Coppi delivered his last memorable performance, a solo stage victory during Giro d'Italia 1953.
Passo dello Stelvio will be part part of the program of the 16th stage this year. The stage immediatelly after the 2nd rest day will provide great fight among the favourites for sure.
