Lausanne hosted the finish of a Tour de France stage for 5 times (1948, 1949, 1952, 1978, 2000)
At the first occasion Gino Bartali won the stage. It was his 3rd stage victory in a row. That year he won the Tour de France for the 2nd time (after 1938).
